The ability to conduct business, surf the Internet and use computer programs from a device no larger than a briefcase is what makes laptop computers, like SAMSUNG models, so popular. But without a power source, these laptops would be pretty useless. So if your laptop AC adapter isn't working, it's probably because of a short in the cord. There are ways to fix your SAMSUNG laptop power cord without the help of a service technician.

• Insert the tip of a flat-head screwdriver in the seam in the middle of the adapter box. This is the black rectangular box located halfway between the plug and AC adapter on the power cord.
• Work your way around the adapter box with the flat-head screwdriver until the two halves become loose. Twist up at each corner with the screwdriver to pop the top half away from the bottom.
• Pull any coiled cord inside the adapter box out by pulling on the end of the cord.
• Cut down the length of the cable from the adapter box with your wire cutters. Be careful to cut just underneath the plastic cord without cutting the metal wire underneath. Be careful because this process is delicate.
• Locate the damage or short in the wire. It will be visible as frayed or broken pieces of wire somewhere along the length of the cable.
• Cut the cable at the short and strip down the ends of either cut side about an inch. Twist the ends of the metal wires together, making sure each side is completely connected to the other.
• Wrap electrical tape around the exposed metal wires and run more tape along the length of the cord over the slit. Replace the top half of the adapter box with the bottom and your SAMSUNG power cord should be fixed.
